wife calls husband

Wife calls husband while husband is in back in London for work. It’s 2am in morning for him but she knows there’ll be a lot of ‘networking’ drinks going round and sure enough, husband answers phone.

Chitter chatter, he is happy to hear from her as always, good husband. Makes his goodbyes to last stragglers at bar and chitter chatters up to hotel room. Exceptional husband.

About 20 mins into her blah blah blah, he says ‘AMBER’. Really long pause. "I’ve just spent the last 10 minutes looking through my suitcase for my phone and it’s attached to my ear’. Wife LAUGHS HISTERICALLY for 2 minutes straight. Good, exceptional and stupid husband.

Another 12 minutes of blah blah, wife can hear exhaustion in husband voice and keeps offering to let him go, but he assures her he’s ok. Says he’s climbing into his massive hotel bed in his crash pad sized room. Asks how his daughter is. Wife goes on about bad cough, trip to chemist, off to docs tomorrow. Pauses. ‘Pete?’ nothing. ‘PETERRRRRRRR’ nothing. Wife realises husband has fallen asleep. Wife laughs histerically again but just by herself this time and hangs up. Good, exceptional, stupid, drunk husband.

Lucky good and exceptional came first.

Good night Pete. xx

too busy

Lou sent me the link below to an article by Tim Kreider called, ‘The busy trap’. And if you’re not one of those self imposed ‘too busy’ people you’ll probably read it and feel well humoured and if you are one of those self imposed ‘too busy’ people you’ll probably skip this blog and tell me when I ask, that you were just too ‘crazy busy’ to get round to it. I would suggest you all read it, there are some gentle pearls of wisdom to be had here.
